Why I'm Running
For me, public education is personal. My experiences as a student, foster father, community advocate, and public servant have shaped why I'm ready to serve Natomas.
Education Changed My Life
Education has never been an abstract issue for me. I'm a product of public schools, and my own path through higher education wasn't always a straight line. I returned to college as an adult while working full time, and earned my bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from CSU San Bernardino. That experience reminded me that education can open doors at any stage of life, and that there is no single path to success.
I learned that lesson in an entirely different way as a foster father. When my kid came into my life at 13, navigating the education system became one of my most important responsibilities. She had special needs, and finding the right environment for her wasn't always easy. Eventually, that journey brought her to Inderkum High School in Natomas Unified, where she found opportunities we hadn't found elsewhere.
That experience stayed with me. I saw how much difference the right school, the right educator, or simply the right person willing to listen and advocate can make in a child's life.
It's a big part of why I'm running today. Every student's story will be different. My job as a trustee will be to make sure they have every opportunity to write a successful one.
Ready to Serve
I've built my career bringing people together, solving problems, and helping government work. As a Legislative Operations Manager and longtime community advocate, I understand budgets, policy, accountability, and the importance of asking the right questions. I'll bring that experience to the School Board with one goal in mind: creating more opportunities for every student to succeed.
